Blush Draping Makeup, Beauty Photography
This project is an exploration of high-impact beauty through a bold gradient. Set against a minimalist white background, the objective was to create a seamless transition of color that bridges the eyes and the cheeks. This approach demonstrates how a singular, warm palette can be used to sculpt the face while maintaining a sophisticated, high-fashion aesthetic.
In collaboration with makeup artist Joana Martins, we developed a look centered on the technical art of blush draping. Using a high-saturation orange-to-red gradient, the color was swept from the eyelids onto the upper cheekbones, utilizing the pigment itself to contour and lift the facial structure.
To balance this intensity, hair stylist Yana Skoroda provided a sleek, pulled-back finish, ensuring the focus remained entirely on the strength of the color work and the model's features.
The technical challenge was to maintain the integrity of this bold monochromatic draping while keeping the skin looking luminous. I utilized a specialized beauty lighting setup, a soft main source paired with an under-lighting technique, to visually smooth the skin and fill in shadows.
This ensured that the transition between the eye makeup and the cheek remained soft while providing a sharp, intentional catchlight in Beatriz’s eyes to ground the high-energy colors.
